The Coconut Story

On a hot Saturday..Only coconut drink can do the work..

According to the smarty pants people, The English name coconut, first mentioned in English print in 1555, comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word coco, which means "monkey face." Spanish and Portuguese explorers found a resemblance to a monkey's face in the three round indented markings or "eyes" found at the base of the coconut.

Is it this monkey ?

OR this monkey ?

Hah ! Found it ~

On the Nicobar Islands of the Indian Ocean, whole coconuts were used as currency for the purchase of goods until the early part of the twentieth century.

Coconuts are the fruit of the coconut palm, botanically known as cocos nucifera, with nucifera meaning "nut-bearing." The fruit-bearing palms are native to Malaysia, Polynesia and southern Asia, and are now also prolific in South America, India, the Pacific Islands, Hawaii and Florida. The light, fibrous husk allowed it to easily drift on the oceans to other areas to propagate.

In Sanskrit, the coconut palm is known as kalpa vriksha, meaning "tree which gives all that is necessary for living," because nearly all parts of the tree can be used in some manner or another.

The coconut fruit has many food uses for its water, milk, meat, sugar, and oil. It also functions as its own dish and cup. The coconut's name is a bit of a misnomer, since it is botanically classified as a drupe and not a nut. It is the largest seed known.

As for me not wanting to miss out the miracle that a coconut can do. I drank plus eat the whole coconut all alone.....*mwahahahahahahaha* It really gives me more energy for another hectic week ahead !

Yum Yum....looks good right...Wait till you see whats inside...:D

1st week of work

The journey of my life continues.....

Geez...Its already Sunday today...I have already been working in IBM for one week...Its kinda tiring actually....Now I understand why working people always says that they are tired...I totally understand it...Please believe it...Okey now...Lets compare during college days and working days..I want to go back to study times..But there are always advantages and disadvantages at both sides...Depends on how you look at it actually...:D...During college time I usually sleep at about 12am-1am...But when I started working...At 10.30pm I am all ready to go to bed...Not I want to but I just feel so tired like the clock is already showing 12am...=.=...I just dont understand why when we start to work the time passes so damn fast...I hardly have time for myself...For example like today....I hardly got the time to rest because i was doing some house chores and in a blink of an eye its already night time and here I am...The worst thing is tomorrow is MONDAY and I have to go to work !!! I hate it ~!!! But the best part of working is that i get $$$$$ and more $$$$$$$ for my shopping spree....LOL ~

Lets briefly talk about my first week of work...The first week can be described in one word that is BORED...The first day I really felt so out of place...Like nobody cares about me...My team members and even my boss...My boss is a lady !!!!!! ALERT !!! Lady usually very strict....I hope she treat me nice because I am such a nicey myself...He he...She just gave me some notes to read...The notes are so damn bloody long...And it makes me damn sleepy...For the next 2 days i was just staring blankly at the notes...Because she say that my Think Pad will only be arriving on Friday..On the first day I also got my ID done...Lets have a look at IBMers ID...

Sorry for the so unclear pictures...I got no money to buy a digital camera.
All I have is a camera handphone ! :(

On Thursday, our team had an education meeting...And guess what !!!! The meeting lasted for 2.5 hours without any break...OMG...Can you just imagined it !!! During college times even a 2 hours lecture also we will have atleast a 10 minutes break...The meeting was longer then that !!! Save me... But i managed to make it through the meeting alive and in one piece...Ha ha ~~ After working one week there I still feel like nobody cares about me...Wu wu wu wu...Am i supposed to be independent ? Actually I have alot of questions to ask..My boss is a busy lady as usually...She is a manager....For your information my team is taking care of the country Thailand...:):) Something new for me...I had never learn anything about the country Thailand before nor have I visited the country...

On Friday I had a training the whole day but we do have breaks in between...It was not very boring...I learned alot about IBM's history and the people working in IBM are called as IBMers...Cool right :):)...During training actually I wanted to take a photo of the place but the room is always filled with people so I did not have the chance to do so...So the posting this time is very boring because mostly words and no visuals...Before I attend this training I had no idea of what IBM stands for...IBM stand for International Business Machines...For me I kinda feel the name not so suitable for an international company....LOL ~~

One last advice for those who will be going out to work soon...Please do enjoy your college days because that's all the time you can have fun...According to my brother: During school days we had 2 months holiday, when we come to college days we had 2 weeks holiday and when we finally arrived in the working world we only have 2 freaking days holiday that are Saturday and Sunday...So sad right ???

My 1st job interview

I believe that the logo says it all.

Yeah ! My first job interview was with IBM (Malaysia) located in 19th Floor,Plaza IBM, Petaling Jaya. This is also the first job i applied through Jobstreet.Com and i got a call to go for an interview. I was kinda excited because the lady called at about 7:30pm on 26th August (Tuesday) asking me information about myself and my education background then lastly she said are you free to come for an interview tomorrow. I answered "Sure". Then she asked from Seremban how long i need to drive down to Petaling Jaya. I said about 2 hours because i do not drive very fast...LOL ~ I said that because i do not want her to schedule me a very early interview. I need to get my beauty sleep. So she said alright how about an interview at 11am on 27th August (Wednesday). I said okey. I am able to make it. Then she introduced her ownself as Ms.Meng and the details i need to know when i reach there. After having the conversation with Ms.Meng i was jumping in joy informing my mum about this good news.

On the same day, i packed my things and rushed down to my sister's place in PJ to stay because i do not want to wake up early and drive. It would be very tiring. So at about 9.30pm i left home and head to PJ. And i took the wrong turning. I supposed to turn at exit Damansara/PJ instead i took the Subang Jaya/PJ turning. I ended up somewhere else. Then my brother in-law and sister have to come and get me. Ha ha ~ Luckily they know where i am. I was not far from home actually. Reached home at about 11.10pm. Bathed and online for a while and went to bed at about 12.20am.

Date: 27th August 2008
Time: 11am
Venue: 19th Floor, Plaza IBM, Petaling Jaya
Interviewer: Ms.Meng
Interviewee: Ms.Clara Tan

I reached there about 10.40am. I went to the receptionist and she gave me a form to fill in. After that i waited for a while and Ms.Meng came. She said i got to wait for a while because she had to interview the Korean girl first :):). I waited for about 30 minutes then it was my turn. So we went into the room and she interviewed me on a one to one interview. She was just asking those common questions that would be asked during an interview :) I think the interview lasted about 30 minutes. She was asking all sort of questions. After the interview with her i am supposed to meet up with her manager. The manager was also a lady. The manager interviewed me for about 10-15 minutes. After that i was allowed to go back. On the lift i met with the Ms.Meng again and she told me that her manager asked to offer me a temporary job that is a 4 months contract. I told her i will consider and let her know tomorrow.

So the next following day she called at 9am. I did not pick up because i was still sleeping :):). After that I woke up and return her call at 9.30am saying that i am going to take the offer. Then she said good good and says that the man power people will prepare and documents and will contact me.

But till today 2nd September 2008 ( Tuesday) there was no news from her or the man power people. Is the job still open for me ? I have to give her a call today and ask about it !

While writing this post. A miracle happen. She called. I was required to sign a contract today or tomorrow. Better today because i am starting my job tomorrow ! Cheers :):):):)
